First Order vs. Galactic Empire: A Galactic Battle of Evil Empires

In a galaxy far, far away, where Star Wars fans delve into the Jedi's captivating history, there exists not one, but two malevolent empires with intriguing pasts. Throughout the three Star Wars trilogies, the First Order and the Galactic Empire have risen, each driven by a desire to dominate the galaxy. Although both factions share a connection to the dreaded Emperor Palpatine, they are far from being identical. The First Order opposes a governing body, while the Galactic Empire was the governing body itself. However, thanks to those pesky Jedi, both eras ultimately meet the same fate.

The rise of the First Order was anything but straightforward. After the Empire's fall, surviving high-ranking officials sought refuge in the Unknown Regions. From there, a group of mostly nameless officials took charge, organizing a regroup in the hopes of restoring the glory of the Galactic Empire. Among them was Brendol Hux, one of the founding members, and the new organization was led by a collective of military commanders.

Unbeknownst to many, the First Order was orchestrated by Darth Sidious as a means to regain power. Through cunning manipulation, Darth Sidious elevated Snoke within the organization, making him the Supreme Leader of the First Order. While Palpatine couldn't fully return yet, he ruled through his puppet, Snoke. The First Order expanded its power by manipulating various races, amassing forces to challenge the New Republic. Darth Sidious brilliantly described the evil genius of this plan in the reference book, "Star Wars: The Secret Of The Sith."

With this in mind, the First Order represented a new and improved version of the Galactic Empire. It became a rebel movement, ironically seeking to destroy the very thing it once aspired to become. The First Order aimed to surpass its predecessor in every way, boasting advanced weaponry, superior technology, and Stormtroopers with unparalleled training.

Arguably one of the most dangerous forces in the galaxy, the First Order possessed powerful Sith at its disposal. Although Snoke appeared formidable, he merely served as a front for Darth Sidious. Throughout the First Order's rise, Kylo Ren, with the potential for redemption, spread fear across the galaxy in breathtaking fashion. As the First Order conquered more worlds, its threat to the New Republic grew.

On the other hand, the Galactic Empire was an oppressive dictatorship ruled by Darth Sidious, also known as Emperor Palpatine. Rather than conquering the galaxy by sheer force (no pun intended), Palpatine devised the perfect plan. Following the Clone Wars, he gained complete control of the Galactic Republic. With the execution of Order 66 and the extermination of the Jedi Order, Palpatine obliterated any and all resistance. The Sith emerged victorious, and Darth Sidious reigned over the galaxy for over a decade.

The Galactic Empire's purpose was to establish peace and order, but it was willing to achieve this by any means necessary. Anyone who dared to oppose the Empire's interests faced ruthless suppression. Assisted by the formidable Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine initiated a campaign to prioritize human-centric values. As a political force, the Galactic Empire held sway over the minds of many, legitimizing its fearsome grip on the galaxy.

Narratively speaking, the First Order and the Galactic Empire share a remarkably similar purpose: to control the galaxy unchallenged, yet both eventually face resistance in their own unique ways. Both factions rely on Stormtroopers as their primary armed force and are eventually defeated by a powerful Jedi supported by a group of valiant fighters. Furthermore, both organizations were led by Darth Sidious until his ultimate defeat.

The differences between them are primarily technical. According to sources, the First Order was better equipped than the Galactic Empire, allowing Darth Sidious to employ even more brutal tactics in pursuit of his objectives, all while operating in the shadows. Unlike the Empire's complete rise to power, the First Order failed to achieve the same level of supremacy. Additionally, although Darth Sidious controlled the First Order from behind the scenes, it was at least publicly governed by a military body.

Even the First Order's creation of a superweapon echoes the Death Star, albeit on a grander scale. It seems that many of the First Order's distinctions were orchestrated by Darth Sidious himself, an attempt to fill the gaps and strengthen the weaknesses of the previous Empire. Unfortunately, these efforts only resulted in more vulnerabilities, especially when Rey emerged to challenge the First Order.

In a galaxy filled with epic battles and captivating tales, the clash between the First Order and the Galactic Empire stands as a pivotal conflict of evil empires. While the Jedi may be the galaxy's hope, its fate hangs in the balance as these formidable forces vie for dominance. Stream Star Wars now on Disney+ and witness the battle unfold like never before.
