Atlas Fallen: How to use Essence Stones

Essence Stones - Sun God, forgive us - are the essence of the Fallen Atlas. While the game may lack collectible items, no other type contributes such a significant impact to your character's relative strength. And in a world as dangerous as the Fallen Atlas, you'll need every advantage you can get.

Below, we will not only tell you what Essence Stones are but also explain why they are crucial and which types should be prioritized over others. There is no wrong set, but there are some highly "right" ones.

What Are Essence Stones, And How Do They Work?

Atlas Fallen: How To Use Essence Stones

The first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ultimately revolved around the collection of Thanos' Infinity Stones and the powers unleashed as a result of his efforts. In the game "Atlas Fallen," your (informal) gauntlet is your most valuable possession, and similarly, you will equip Essence Stones onto this gauntlet.

But we don't need to cloak these things in secrecy - in reality, Essence Stones can be seen as skills. They have in-world names, and their art is quite dazzling, but it's all rather straightforward. You collect, equip, and upgrade skills. When your Momentum Indicator builds up in combat, you'll be able to unleash action-oriented stone abilities.

Equipping Essence Stones is as simple as accessing the gauntlet from the menu. In general, you will have access to more square slots than diamond-shaped ones at the moment. But what's the difference?

Shapes And Colors

Essence Stones are presented in two main variations, which are then further divided into five categories. It's important to note that many Essence Stones have a square shape, while others have a diamond shape. Square Essence Stones are considered "active," while diamond-shaped Essence Stones are "passive."

  • Red Essence Stones affect damage output and can cause devastating additional effects to your foes;
  • Blue Essence Stones involve Momentum;
  • Purple Essence Stones grant access to various new attacks;
  • Yellow Essence Stones affect defensive capability and grant access to new buffs;
  • Green Essence Stones affect healing capability;

Finding Stones

Many Essence Stones can be found while exploring Atlas Fallen, and many of them are located near the main path during the progression of the main storyline. (However, you should still venture into every nook and cranny as some of them are harder to spot, and there are plenty of other items to collect as well.)

Some more advanced Essence Stones require merging with various resources. In such cases, merging with an Essence Core is mandatory for the process, as you are essentially creating an entirely new Essence Stone.

Excellent Essence Stone Choices

Atlas Fallen: How To Use Essence

Our preferences regarding which Essence Stones to prioritize are prone to change depending on how far we have progressed in the game, which means our recommendations will depend on the specific case. Generally speaking, your character will become more resilient in the later stages of the game, and that's when you should consider having more slots for Essence Stones that increase damage, as well as provide additional offensive effects.

Any stone with the word "Slayer" in its name is a good choice at this stage. Additionally, there are excellent stones with active offensive effects that increase the rate of Momentum Indicator accumulation, so be sure to pay attention to them.

But again, all of this depends on the case when you have strengthened your character in other ways. When you're at the beginning of your adventure in Atlas Fallen, consider focusing on Essence Stones that offer valuable buffs, such as yellow stones. And even later on, don't completely disregard them. An excellent yellow stone, for example, is the "Sand Barrier," which creates a barrier around you that slows down any enemies entering it. It's always useful!
