Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the highly anticipated game that has fans buzzing with excitement, recently had its standalone State of Play showcase. This event gave us a tantalizing glimpse into the world of the game, revealing its intricate story, exciting combat, and a plethora of mini-games, both old and new.
One of these mini-games, which we only caught a brief glimpse of, is Fort Condor. Fans of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade's DLC will recognize this as the board game that Yuffie plays. In Rebirth, it seems that Fort Condor has received a delightful makeover. Not only does it promise to be more fleshed out than before, but it also features adorable versions of Cloud, Tifa, and Barrett, dressed up in skins that resemble their iconic PS1 counterparts.
We are still uncertain about the exact role of Cloud and his gang in the Fort Condor mini-game or how they fit into the game's narrative. However, we did witness Barret unleashing his machine gun arm and several UI icons that indicate their significant involvement.
While the PS1 skins were predominantly showcased in the Fort Condor mini-game, we caught a fleeting glimpse of a PS1 skin for Cait Sith outside of the game. As we explored the game's skill tree, we stumbled upon Cloud, Yuffie, and Cait Sith battling a fearsome monster in a desolate environment. Just as our attention turned to Cait Sith, his Moogle robot transformed into its charming PS1 equivalent, while Cait Sith himself remained unchanged.
It's quite possible that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will allow players to roam around as PS1 characters. The State of Play showcase hinted at a greater emphasis on alternative clothing, as it showcased a variety of different outfits. Perhaps Cait Sith's whimsical attack was just a taste of the delightful eccentricity that awaits us. We won't know for sure until the game launches.
Fortunately, the wait is almost over! Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set to launch on February 29, just a few short weeks away. If you simply can't contain your excitement, Square Enix has a special treat for you. They've announced that a demo is available today, allowing players to step into the shoes of either Cloud or Sephiroth in the Nibelheim episode.
Prepare for a grand adventure filled with immersive mini-games, lovable PS1 skins, and a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is poised to deliver a truly unforgettable experience, and the countdown to its release has never been more exciting!
